Grocery cards are available at both services on Sunday mornings. You may order cards by calling Duane and Kitty Weiss. Remember all purchases of cards realizes 5% in cash back to Grace. These funds are used to support our many ministries.

Grace has been able to make a $500.00 donation to the ELCA Funds for
Leaders Endowment Fund thanks to your continued purchase of shopping cards.

Summer Sunday Fellowship

We are hoping that people will be willing, maybe with a partner, to take charge of putting out snacks, plates, napkins and drinks for each Sunday morning, 9 am, for adult summer Sunday school during July and August. Afterwards, either at 10:30 am or after the 10:30 worship they would clean up what is left. If you are willing call the office (717-397-2748)  or Kath (Verkouw@gmail.com) to sign up. Thanks!

A Note From Our Secretary

I will be out of the office from Monday 7/3-Monday 7/17. The office will be closed 7/4.

Volunteers will be in on 7/5, 7/6, 7/11, and 7/13.

Lutheran World Relief In-Gathering

SEPTEMBER 30–OCTOBER 1, 2023

Brenda Hayasaka and Donna Linton have agreed to do School Kits again this year and need your help. These are the items they need to fill the bags they will be ordering:

  • Four 70-80 sheet SPIRAL notebooks (280-300 sheets total) of wide or college-ruled paper approximately   8” x 10 ½ ”, no loose leaf paper
  • One 30-centimeter ruler, or a ruler with centimeters on one side and inches on the other
  • One pencil sharpener
  • One pair of blunt scissors (safety scissors with embedded steel blades work well)
  • Five unsharpened #2 pencils with erasers; secure together with a rubber band
  • Five black or blue ballpoint pens (no gel ink); secure together with a rubber band
  • One box of 16 or 24 crayons
  • One 2 ½” eraser

Thank you to Janet Neumar who will again be requesting a $250 Visa Card from Thrivent to buy some supplies. We also need you to bring items.

We are also doing Personal Care Kits. I will ask for a $250 Visa Card from Thrivent Financial to buy the supplies in bulk. If you want to put your own kit together here are the directions.

  • One light-weight bath size towel (between 20” x 40” and 52” x 27”), dark color
  • Two or three bath-size bars of soap equaling 8 to 9 oz, any brand, in original wrapping
  • One adult-size toothbrush in its original wrapping
  • One metal nail clippers (attached file optional), remove packaging

We will add a comb to your kit as we can order in bulk.

Fold the towel in half widthwise. Place the rest of the items in the towel, fold and roll so nothing falls out, and secure with yarn, ribbon, string or rubber bands.

If you want to help with cash donations, please write on your check “LWR Kits.” Brenda and I will share the money as needed. We use it to buy backpacks and towels to get us started. We did not receive as many donations last year and found that the prices had risen, even for the bulk items. So, we need everyone’s help. We are requesting this now, because school sales begin in July before the August “Grace News” is published. Please leave your items in the collection bins in the solarium and near the St. Peter Chapel.

Weekly Reflection

We have all known the long loneliness and we have learned that the only solution is love and that love comes with community.
