Grace Church Moved to Video Worship

Due to the outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19), and following the best advice of experts in the fields of health care and epidemics, our leadership decided to cancel all services and meetings of groups, large or small, beginning March 14-15. In so doing, we took our part in doing all that can be done to slow down the spread of the virus. Our worship moved online, and is almost all archived on our YouTube Channel. We tried to come back in the Fall…

In October we began to offer two brief services of Holy Communion (see details in sidebar at right). The service was shorter and simpler: No group singing, no food and fellowship, no hugs and handshakes. While we were taking all possible precautions and heeding the advice of our medical and public health experts, as the pandemic began to surge after Thanksgiving we felt the best way to care for one another was to suspend in-person worship again. We are waiting until the case positivity rate falls to 5% before resuming regular services.

These changes present us with both challenges and opportunities. It is frustrating and sad not to meet together around word and sacrament in our beautiful and familiar place. We miss seeing each other and we miss all the ways in which being together enhances our ability to worship God and proclaim the faith that we share. At the same time we have an opportunity to strengthen the connections that bind us together, finding new ways to express what it means to be Grace Lutheran Church and part of the Body of Christ in the world.
