Due to the outbreak of coronavirus (COVID-19), and following the best advice of experts in the fields of health care and epidemics, our leadership decided to cancel all services and meetings of groups, large or small, beginning March 14-15. In so doing, we took our part in doing all that can be done to slow down the spread of the virus.
In October we began to offer two brief services of Holy Communion (see details in sidebar at right). We will continue this schedule until further notice, taking all possible precautions and heeding the advice of our medical and public health experts. Numbers are reduced to 20% of our capacity to ensure appropriate separation (hence reservations are required). The service is shorter and simpler: No group singing, no food and fellowship, no hugs and handshakes, please! If you forget your mask
This change will present us with both challenges and opportunities. It will be frustrating and sad not to meet together around word and sacrament in our beautiful and familiar place. We will miss seeing each other and we will miss all the ways in which being together enhances our ability to worship God and proclaim the faith that we share. At the same time we have an opportunity to strengthen the connections that bind us together, finding new ways to express what it means to be Grace Lutheran Church and part of the Body of Christ in the world.
