Save the Date

Sunday School for all ages begins on September 10, from 9-10:15 am!

From the Programing Staff

In our Sunday School class on Christian Nationalism we are warned that a common source of conflict in our world is when we “other” people who don’t look, act or think like we do. We all do this and in many ways it is a successful way to survive. But how do we practice opening our circle? Welcome a few more people into our group?

This is also the overarching theme in the book that our Tapestry of Pages book group is reading: See no Stranger by Valerie Kaur — “I started a simple practice. As I move through my day and come across faces on the street or subway or on a screen, I say in my mind, Sister. Brother.
Sibling. Aunt. Uncle. I start to wonder about each of them as a person. When I do this, I am retraining my mind to see more and more kinds of people as part of  “us” rather than “them”. I practice this with animals and parts of the earth, too. I say in my mind: You are a part of me I do not yet know. I practice orienting to the world with wonder, preparing myself for the possibility of connection” (Kaur pg 27). This week we encourage you to practice loving our neighbors and wondering about them as people.

Tapestry of Pages will begin our discussion of See No Stranger on 9/11 at 3 p.m on Zoom. In her book Kaur encourages all of us to welcome the stranger in our midst. We will discuss the book and practice new and meaningful ways to
welcome. If you are interested in joining our group please let Angie know by 8/28. If you need a copy of the book please let Angie know by 8/28. You can reach Angie at the church office on Tuesdays and Thursdays (717-397-2748 or email her at
