Disagreeing Better

Tuesday October 8, 2024

7:00 pm – 8:30 pm

There is no registration fee

This workshop is offered in-person at the PRC office.

Presenters: Nita Landis and Melissa Gizzi

As political polarization continues to rise, differences, especially political differences, can feel insurmountable. This is a team-taught workshop led by one red and one blue leader and will teach participants essential skills for communicating across differences and finding common ground. You will leave this interactive workshop with:

● A greater understanding of the values and concerns of people who differ from you politically

● Better listening skills that lets other people feel heard

● Better skills for sharing viewpoints in a way the other person might hear even if they disagree

● Practice implementing these skills

We will have two tables set up for this event! If you wish to help please leave
candy/treats and little trinkets (bubbles, pencils etc) in the church office or in the collection area in the Nolt Auditorium. If you have any questions please contact Kathryn Verkouw. Office hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9-4.

LUTHERAN WORLD RELIEF INGATHERING OF THE LOWER SUSQUEHANNA SYNOD

Thank you so much for all your donations for the Lutheran World Relief Ingathering on
October 5-6. Most of the School & Personal Care Kits have been packed for delivery to New Windsor in Maryland. Denny will deliver them to our Conference drop-off spot at Bergstrasse Church in Ephrata on October 12. We are now collecting for the shipping fund which is used to send the kits overseas. Donations marked LWR Shipping Fund may be placed on the offering plate. Envelopes will be available at church. There is a wonderful quilt plaza at LWR offices at Christ Lutheran Church across from Inner Harbor in Baltimore. Members of Grace remember visiting this some years back. For every $500 donation to the Shipping Fund a brick is
engraved in the Plaza. Many members of Grace, past and present, have their names marked on a brick to honor their work over the years. Thank you Brenda Hayasaka, Donna Linton, Angie Rabbe, and Janet Neumar for doing the School Kits. They joined with the Personal Care Kit team, Cindy Labezius, Linda Fackler, Dianne Sherr, and Barbara Slotter on September 19 to put the kits together and to pack them. THANK YOU ALL!
