Adult Sunday School Updates

What a wonderful and inspiring series of how the Holy Spirit can work in an artistic way which was not only present in Adult Sunday School but also woven, in
various ways, into our worship.

· We practiced and explored creating art with Tom Santosusso.  In the narthex we shared Tom’s artistic representations of Bible stories and Nathan Sieber’s creation of St. Michael defeating the devil.

· When we explored the Spirit and Poetry with Barbara Strasco we tried our hand at that as well and Barbara’s Strasco’s poem “Bruise”  was printed in the bulletin.

· David McConnell, David Himes and David Eriksson all helped us explore the Creative Spirit and Music in beautiful ways.  In worship a David Himes’ piece was sung by the choir and a
David Erikkson piece was performed by Grace Folk choir.  What a beautiful celebration of song, poetry and sound was shared in that special worship service.

· Our last class was on “The Spirituality of Dance” with Marian West. She taught us how movement can express and enhance our openness to the Holy Spirit. In worship she brought our Offertory to the altar with dance. This class was perhaps the most surprising and Spirit opening to the  group of Lutherans.

A big thank you to Tom Santosusso for gathering these artists together, for creating the theme, and for helping us open our hearts and minds to how the Holy Spirit works in these different mediums.  What a blessing.  Amen. –Kathryn Verkouw
