Grace’s In-person Book Group meets next Monday!

In Being Mortal, bestselling author Atul Gawande tackles the hardest challenge of his  profession: how medicine can not only improve life but also the process of its ending.

Medicine has triumphed in modern times, transforming birth, injury, and infectious disease  from harrowing to manageable.

But in the inevitable condition of aging and death, the goals  of medicine seem too frequently to run counter to the interest of the human spirit.  Gawande, a practicing surgeon, addresses his profession’s ultimate
limitations, arguing  that quality of life is the desired goal for patients and families. Full of eye-opening research  and riveting storytelling, Being Mortal asserts that medicine can comfort and enhance our  experience even to the end, providing not only a good life but also a good end.

All are invited to join us to discuss this important book. We will meet in the Nolt
Auditorium  below the main worship area Monday, April 28 at 1:30 pm. The discussion will be led by Arlene Volk.

Christian Formation

Upcoming Adult Formation

The Adult Formation class is about to begin a six-week study, titled Christianity & Culture. New Grace member John Sibole will chair the discussion, as we examine five ways in which the Christian church has related to society over two millennia. Then in our last session, we’ll contemplate the future of church and culture––and share our thoughts on how Christians, individually and as the church, should relate to our world as faithful disciples. Please join us on Sunday, April 27th, at 9:00 am, in Nolt Auditorium!

Lenten Prayer Reflection

If you participated in our Lenten practice of praying for a member of the congregation our Program Staff would love to hear about your experience!

· Did you pray for your person everyday?

· Does your person know you prayed for them?

· What did you gain, if anything, from participating in this practice? A new friend? A deeper relationship with a member of Grace? A deeper relationship with God?

We would love you include your responses in future Grace Newses.  Please email your responses to Kath (verkouw@gmail.com or Angie (gracechurch517@gmail.com).

Thank you!!!
