How Do We Pray? Why Should We Pray? What Are You Praying For?
Prayer….how do I pray? Well, personally, I have found it best to start with those things I am thankful for – it just seems to put my life and prayers in the proper order and perspective. In this vein I have asked the Sunday School teachers to gather things their classes are thankful for. So every so often I will share their responses. Please feel free to write in and tell me things you give thanks for. Also, please consider joining in with the Adult Sunday morning class where they are exploring prayer through
materials created by Philip Yancey.
Preschool class led by Ms. Susan and Ms. Alana:
I am thankful for: Mommy, Babies, Dad, Sissy and my sister Penny.
I, Kath, am very thankful for Ms. Susan and Ms. Alana who put so much love and dedication into
leading our preschoolers in faith learning and Ms. Tama for leading the preschoolers and toddlers in music time. Praise God for helpers. Amen

Adult Christian Formation—Prayer

In a nutshell: We have had four very stimulating weeks learning about homelessness in our neighborhood. We have learned about its causes, nuances, and effects on our neighbors and neighborhood. We have understood recent effects of government policy changes and
overviewed the many efforts of churches,
government and non-profits to meet immediate needs as well as to help folks transition into care or housing.
. We have grappled with the spiritual
struggle of confronting human suffering that has no easy solution, and the strange mix of guilt and resentment and other feelings that we feel when we do this – the back and forth that
happens when we humanize and dehumanize people who are suffering and unable to maintain a normally ordered life.
This has caused a number of us to pray to God in different and deeper ways, so…
Let’s take up prayer next!
Pastor Steve will lead us on a study of prayer, in collaboration with the teaching of Philip
Yancey who has written a helpful exploration in six sessions that will guide us. Come to learn, share…yep, and pray!
