In-person Book Group

You are invited to In-Person Book Group for a discussion of Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus. The meeting will be on Monday, February 23, 2026 at 1:30 PM in Nolt Auditorium. Barbara Andersen will lead the discussion.
Lessons in Chemistry tells the story of chemist Elizabeth Zott who works at a research institute in the 1950s. In 1961, Elizabeth’s career takes a surprising turn when she loses her research job and becomes the unlikely star of a popular cooking show. As a TV host, she receives accolades from her adoring audience but also contends with many professional and personal challenges. Through Elizabeth’s struggles as a TV host and beyond, Elizabeth learns valuable life lessons about career, motherhood and the meaning of family that are still relevant today. Published in 2022, Lessons in Chemistry is the debut novel for author Bonnie Garmus. She draws from her own experiences as a copywriter and creative director who is also an open-water swimmer, a rower, and a wife and mother.

Community Meal Items Needed
Many of our community meal guests are in need of more warm, thick socks & gloves, and thermal layers to wear under their clothes during these bitterly cold winter days? (We already have plenty of hats & scarves.)
Christian Formation
Church in the Woods Confirmation Camp: “Listen! God is Calling!”

Each of the three years of Confirmation, our students have the opportunity to attend an overnight week of study, fellowship, and fun at Camp Kirchenwald. This important week allows them to explore their faith, ask questions, and express their doubts in a safe and nurturing environment.
After a morning of study, the week’s activities, guided by camp staff, include swimming, hiking, canoeing, arts and crafts, a service trip to the Wittel Farm, and new this year, rock climbing at Chiques Rock. The week closes with the famous Capture the Flag Extravaganza, a picnic dinner, ice cream, and Worship on the hill.
Why I like Confirmation Camp:
“I love camp! It’s time away from home to explore my independence.” H. V.
“It’s exciting exploring new activities. Confirmation Camp is fun!” L. M.
“The counselors are amazing! Jonah and Louie are chill.” L. M.
“I like coming together with all the campers for food and fellowship at meal times.” S. M.
With rising costs to host campers at Kirchenwald, we are asking for your help and support. If you are able, please make a donation to the “Outdoor Ministry Fund” to keep the registration fee low to help families to send their children to camp.
Yours in Christ,
Meghan Kelly

Footsteps
The grades 3-5 Sunday School class is making a trail of footsteps during Lent showing ways we live our lives following Jesus and we invite everyone to participate! Please take one or more footsteps from the box in Nolt Auditorium and list something you have done that would
make Jesus smile! You may add your name or be anonymous. There is a second box in which to place completed footsteps. Fill out as many footsteps as you can every week. We want to see how far around the auditorium we can make our trail of footsteps. They can be deeds great or
small. Two examples from the kids are shoveling a neighbor’s driveway and switching sports teams so someone else could be with a friend.
What have you done?
