April In-Person Book Group

The Grace In-Person Book Club will meet at 1:30 on Monday April 27 in the Nolt Room. The book to be discussed is “Remarkably Bright Creatures” by Shelby Van Pelt. The main characters are Tova, a woman of 70 who cleans an aquarium at night to avoid being alone with her memories, and Marcellus, an elderly giant Pacific octopus who is nearing the end of his life. I was regarding this as just a clever novel but then I happened upon Bill Gates’ enthusiastic review of the book and I now realize that there is more to learn here. He, like Tova, is 70, and finds wisdom in the book regarding relationships and getting older.
I enjoyed that the chapters alternate between the viewpoints of Tova and the remarkably bright Marcellus. You are invited to join us for a good discussion! If you have any question please contact Arlene Volk.

Christian Formation
Upcoming Adult Christian Ed–Sundays 9 am in the Nolt Auditorium
The Adult Formation class is about to begin an eight-week study, titled Parables for the Disappointed and led by John Sibole. Each week we’ll discuss one of Jesus’ parables, as recorded in Luke, and apply our Lord’s wisdom to understanding various aspects of disappointment and suffering, including the hope and redemption that may be found through them. Please join us this Sunday, April 12th, in the Nolt Auditorium!
Our Grace Family
Our Sympathy
We give thanks for the life and witness of Robert “Bob” Martin. Bob was a life long member of Grace. Please keep Faith and their family in your prayers. Bob’s funeral will be after late service on Sunday April 19 in the Memorial Garden.
