This Week’s Green Tip

Lutherans Restoring Creation is a grassroots movement promoting care for creation in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

We accomplish this by cultivating a community of dedicated stewards of earth and neighbor who proclaim God’s promise of hope and healing for all.

Inspirations and gratitude:

A Thank You Card for God’s Good Earth

As we recognize 50 years since the first Earth Day in 1970, supporters from across the nation say thanks by giving a donation to Lutherans Restoring Creation and lifting up the people, scripture, places, creatures which remind them of God’s love shown through Creation and our vocation to care for it.

Post your inspiration and make a donation here

We are still collecting caps for the Earth Savers Club at Central York High School. If you would like to help—drop off your clean/label free caps to the church office!

Thank you for helping to protect our planet!

Contemplating Logos

“Listen, O my son, to the precepts of thy master, and incline the ear of thy heart, and cheerfully receive and faithfully execute the admonitions of thy loving Father, that by the toil of obedience thou mayest return to Him from whom by the sloth of disobedience thou hast gone away.”
(Prologue to The Rule of St. Benedict, Trans. Rev. Boniface Verheyen OSB, 1949)

This week’s reading is John 3:22-30

Tapestry of Pages Update!

Our discussion of The House in the Cerulean Sea begins on April 6, 2020, at 3 PM via Zoom. The House in the Cerulean Sea is a delightful fantasy novel that challenges the reader to think about family, belonging, and perception of “the other.” Please read the entire novel before our first discussion. The book should be available through your local library (wait times vary) or wherever books are sold.
If you have any questions or would like to join this group please contact our Assistant Program Director Angie Rabbe (graceelcaapd@gmail.com).

The Lenten Walkers

Over six Sundays a group from Grace met at Buchanan Park, prayed, listened to scripture and then walked and talked over concepts inspired by that scripture. We walked with snow on the ground, rain and wind in the air and even some sun!

We followed the scripture passages and questions put forth in the “Where Your Heart Is” devotional that was encouraged for our congregation to experience during Lent this year. The smallest group was 3 people but overall more than 30 people participated.  Especially during this Covid time it was so wonderful to talk in person and get to know our Grace neighbors a bit better.

A big thank you to all who joined in on the Lenten adventure.

Book Group

The Grace Book Discussion Group will meet via Zoom at its regularly scheduled time 7pm on Tuesday, April 13. Read any memoir, biography, or autobiography to share with the group. If you have questions or wish to join, contact Brenda Hayasaka- bkhayasaka@gmail.com.

Updates on Zoom for Kids and Youth

Update on Sunday ZOOM Fun for kids!

Join us at 9:30 am ~ for kids 1-6th grades.

Before Lent began our Grace families with children between preschool age to 4th grade received a Lenten mobile to create in addition to the creative pathways readings.  To the right is one of our preschoolers, Madison Platt, with her completed mobile.  Hurray Madison!

In Sunday school we focused on Palm Sunday in various ways: singing, reading, discussing and word games.  Did you see the children in the prayers this week?  Stay tuned for Maundy Thursday – they have a dramatic skit ready.

Look for the Weekend Updates and links for Worship and Sunday School email from Pastor!

Resurrection of the Lord, April 4, 2021

So [the women] went out and fled from the tomb, for terror and amazement had seized them; and they said nothing to any one, for they were afraid. –Mark 16:8

How often has fear silenced you? Too often Christians are afraid to speak up about creation care. Let us take a deep breath and put aside our fear, trusting the God of resurrection hope to guide our words and deeds as we work for a cleaner, sustainable world.
