Walking Group Update: The Power of Habits

As our Lenten Walking Group has come to an end, as we journey through Holy Week, we make space to reflect on our time together.

Consistently making space for the spiritual habits of prayer, meditation, generosity, stillness, and fasting leads to these things becoming part of our natural rhythm of life.  Jesus’ forty days in the wilderness prepared him to resist the temptations of the Devil and to step into the calling God had for Him. Creating healthy spiritual habits can do the same for us.

When we practice these things, remember the spiritual habits themselves are not the end goal. In 1 Samuel 15:22 and Hosea 6:6 God’s word makes it clear that obedience is better than sacrifice.  When sacrificing anything, it must be from a place of humble surrender, not as a half-hearted obligation.

When we truly humble ourselves before God, we experience a deeper intimacy with God. Making space for spiritual habits reflects our obedience to God and keeps us grounded in His love. Whether you journeyed with us in person or through the printed material, thank you for taking the time to make space for these things.

In His Peace, Philip
