In-person Book Group
The in – house Grace book group will meet on Monday, June 22 1:30, in the Nolt Auditorium.
The book will be discussing is Becoming Madame Secretary, written by Stephanie Dray.
It is a historical fiction novel that depicts the life of Frances Perkins. She delved into investigating many injustices that were everyday occurrences in the work industry. Practices such as children working in factories; long work hours, unsafe working conditions and minimum wage. Perkins’ endeavors led her to become the first female Secretary of Labor, within he cabinet of President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Perkins’ advocacy led to the creation of the New Deal and Social Security.
All are welcome to join us in discussing the little -known, power house
life of Frances Perkins. If you have any questions please contact Joyce Loiseau.
Christian Formation

We have partnered with Musser’s Street Ministry for our VBS collection! Musser’s Street Ministry works directly with our homeless neighbors, providing them with food, personal care items, and transitional support. Beginning this Sunday we will be collecting the following items (Please leave items in the collection basket in the solarium):
- New hats (adults)
- New socks (adults)
- New gloves (adults)
- Full sized toothpaste
- Disposable Razors
- Cup-O-Noodles (please make sure it’s the cup that you simply add hot water to–NOT the kind that need to be microwaved.)

Outreach
LWR Health & School Kits
Lutheran World Relief Ingathering is not until the fall, but we will soon tell you what is needed for School Kits, so you can purchase items when they go on sale. Brenda Hayasaka is in charge of this. In regard to Personal Care Kits, I would like to have someone else take over next year and help me this year to learn what is involved. Please contact me if you have any questions or would like to volunteer for this.

Wednesday Night Community Meals
Community meals are more than a plate of food. They are neighbors caring for neighbors. In moments when isolation exists and food insecurity persists, these meals create connection, dignity, and belonging around a shared table.
The Lancaster Hub is honored to support community meal partners with free food that helps stretch limited budgets further. From proteins and produce to pantry staples and desserts. Because of these partnerships, more neighbors can gather for a warm meal, meaningful conversation, and the reminder that they are not alone”–Food HUB Facebook
We couldn’t have said it any better than the Food Hub did in one of their Facebook posts! As they so beautifully expressed, community meals are a very much needed and worthwhile mission on so many levels, so who else would like to help? We are extremely grateful for those who have volunteered, so far, to help with our community meals in the coming months. Angie Rabbe & Lydia Wolfe will be cooking our June and July meals, and for perhaps a few more months, as well. Our Grace choir not only enhances our services with their fabulous music, but they have also graciously offered to use their culinary talents by planning and preparing the October meal. Colin & Jada Kerr have volunteered to provide desserts. As they say, it takes a village, so who else would like to join our “community meal village?”
We are thankful for everyone in our “community meal village”, our Grace and Shaarai Shomayim volunteers make our community meal possible.
Just call or email the church office (717-397-2748/ gracechurch517@gmail.com) or Donna Weidman (dweidman52@gmail.com or text or call her @ 717-201-6180) to let us know how YOU might like to help! THANK YOU!
