Worship Volunteers Needed

As we begin the journey back to a “normal” worship schedule, we need volunteers to: read the lessons, assist Pastor with communion, set up and clean up communion, sound and camera operators, ushers, and greeters. Have helped in the past—would like to begin?  All are welcome! Please call the office at 717-397-2748 to volunteer!

Christian Formation

Confirmation Camp

Where campers: Grow in their faith, make new friends, gain confidence in themselves, and identify their role as Christians in our world! We are happy to report that the following 12 youth from Grace will be attending Confirmation Camp at Camp Kirchenwald from Sunday June 20th through Saturday June 26th.  Lindsay, Bailey, Chloe, Sanya, Libby, Nina, Quentin, Ella, Mark, and Norbert from Grace and two young men from our Learning Pod, Jonathan and Fanuel.

We also have our two fearless youth leaders attending all week, Meghan Kelley and Keith Miller, with Vicki Mumma and Pastor Verkouw participating at various times as well.  What a terrific group and what a beautiful blessing. A week at Camp Kirchenwald, our local Lutheran camp in Colebrook PA, can be like spiritual fertilizer for a person’s faith journey. Please pray for this group and all others that participate. May the week be full of fun, faith, fellowship, learning, sharing, good health, fair weather and lots of the Holy Spirit.
In peace and joy, Kathryn Verkouw

If you would like to support this enriching experience, please consider donating to our campership fund. Camperships helps to subsidize families that would otherwise be financially unable to send their children to camp.
Checks can be made out to: Grace Lutheran with Campership on the memo line.

Youth Group

This summer we hope to see many of you for in person Youth Group Events at Buchanan Park! We plan to gather as a group near the rose garden on the second Sunday of each month from 1PM-4PM. Each event will start with a BYO picnic followed by different activities. This Sunday (6/13) we’ll be playing Kubb! We hope to see many of you at all of these events. Please let us know if you have any questions.

Summer Devotional

If you enjoyed our Lenten devotional, you’ll love the devotional material we have for this summer…An Illustrated Compassion.

Our devotional encourages us to love with compassion like God loves us. This is a great resource for families- there are family activities and coloring pages (the family activities can also be done by individuals)!

I will be posting questions/readings/prayers to our social media between June 13 and August 29, but you can do any 12 weeks this summer that work for you. There will be a path of daily readins- one for each of the three sections of our devotional. These will be available on our website within the next few weeks. If you would like the materials emailed to you (it’s a big document) please email me at graceelcaapd@gmail.com. If you want to pick a copy up in the office please contact Vicki at 717-397-2748 or vicki@gracelutheranchurch.com. If you have any questions send me an email. Peace, Angie Rabbe

Contemplating Logos

“Listen, O my son, to the precepts of thy master, and incline the ear of thy heart, and cheerfully receive and faithfully execute the admonitions of thy loving Father, that by the toil of obedience thou mayest return to Him from whom by the sloth of disobedience thou hast gone away.”
(Prologue to The Rule of St. Benedict, Trans. Rev. Boniface Verheyen OSB, 1949)

This week’s reading is John 5:19-24

Thank you for helping to protect our planet!

Creation Care

Our creation care team is looking for folks to help with weeding, watering, and general maintenance of our new native plantings around the church campus.

This Week’s Greeen Tip

In addition to saving money on your utility bill, water conservation helps prevent water pollution in nearby lakes, rivers, and local watersheds. Conserving water also prevents greenhouse gas emissions associated with treating and distributing water. Conserving water can also extend the life of your septic system by reducing soil saturation and reducing pollution due to leaks. Learn more here

Third Sunday after Pentecost, June 13, 2021

“So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new.” – 2 Corinthians 5:17

As we emerge from our Covid cocoons, we are all new creations, changed in a variety of ways. In addition to renewing existing relationships, we can look for new ones that will help us deepen our faith walk, challenge our biases and prejudices, and love our neighbor.

Our Grace Family

Our granddaughter Analiese is doing well and improving each week.  We’ve been blessed with wonderful prayers of healing and for that we say thank you!  Our family is grateful to Pastor V. for reaching out to our church family for prayers even though they are not members of Grace Church.

Stan Peznosky has entered Eternal Life where there is no suffering or strife ~ imagine his relief. Stan’s family as well extends their thanks for all the care and concern shown by our church ~ a true testament of Grace’s warm embrace.
God Bless—Jim & Sue Pacelli

Congratulations to Robert Durand on the birth of his grandson Callum Robert Durand, Callum is the son of Jonathan and Cathy Durand.
