Worship Volunteers Needed

As we begin the journey back to a “normal” worship schedule, we need volunteers to: read the lessons, assist Pastor with communion, set up and clean up communion, sound and camera operators, ushers, and greeters. Have helped in the past— or would like to?  All are welcome! Please call the office at 717-397-2748 to volunteer!

Stewardship and Finance Team Update

The stewardship and finance team meets monthly and has committed to providing regular communication to the congregation regarding the state of the church’s finances.  Please look for quarterly updates in the Grace News moving forward following this midyear update.

The team anticipates based on our projected 2022 expenses and the current pattern of giving to the general fund, which funds our ongoing ministries, that a deficit of over $50,000 might be possible during this year.  During the first two quarters of 2022 our expenses have exceeded income by approximately $40,000.

We want to stress that fundamentally Grace Lutheran Church’s finances are sound, however we recognize there are many needs among us locally and globally. We face the challenge of emerging from the pandemic, from the war in Europe, and the overall state of our economy with the current rate of inflation. Your giving during these difficult times is especially important to maintain the current level of ministries at Grace.  Thank you for your continued support!

The Team has also been monitoring gifts to the capital campaign. We have recommended that additional principal payments be made quarterly when the capital campaign fund exceeds the value of payments due over the next twelve months.

We are pleased to report that an additional principal payment of $37,000 has been made year to date in 2022!

Thank you for your support of the capital campaign in addition to your regular giving.

This Week’s Green Tip

July and August are great times to plant crops that will see you through the winter. Many vegetables will tolerate and even thrive on the cooler temperatures that come with fall and winter. The main limiting factor at this time of year is sunlight. Read more here
